Historical projects like these rely on photos and information from many sources. There are always some topics that prove hard to illustrate, and they sometimes show up, it always seems, the day after a book is on the printing press. Here are a few photos that I’m looking for presently (either as scans or images I could borrow for scanning). I am following up on several that were in National Geographic in the mid-1950s. Good leads to sources are also most helpful:
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HELPED ON: Yukon River Steamers
-colour images of any of the vessels going through Five Finger Rapids. I do have early coloured postcards and good black & white images. Colour photos (ideally Kodachromes) have proven hard to find.
-colour images of any of the vessels on the Yukon River in 1955 and earlier, from both the US and Canadian operations. I have good shots of the BYN steamers at Whitehorse after retirement. Details or artistic shots are always welcome. Color photos of the abandoned paddlewheelers at St Michael, pre 1990, would also be very helpful.
